OUR STORY

GROOM

Ali Siby

BRIDE

Jessamine De Ocampo

His Version:

Jessamine and I first crossed paths in early 2018, introduced by mutual friends. What began as a simple friendship—filled with nights dancing in the city, sharing meals at cozy restaurants, and laughing together in the warmth of our group—soon blossomed into something deeper. I was drawn to her beauty from the start, but over time, I discovered her kind heart, sharp mind, and the way she cared so deeply for the people around her.

The turning point came during a group trip to Antigua. There, amidst the breathtaking scenery, we found ourselves spending real, quality time together. We shared our dreams, beliefs, and aspirations, and in those quiet, intimate moments, I realized that Jessamine was the woman I could see myself spending my life with.

Since then, we've grown together in ways I could never have imagined. Every moment we’ve shared has deepened my love for her, and she continues to amaze me every day. Now, as we stand on the threshold of marriage, I know that this next chapter will be the most beautiful yet.

Her Version:

Ali and I were introduced to each other by a then co-worker of mine, now friend of ours. I had just moved to New York, enamored with the City, and eager to meet so many new people. During our first encounter, Ali will say I was so very late (I was), but I did arrive with enough time to play a round of pool before the place closed. We then went to our friend’s apartment, made boxed cake and roasted Gandalf*.

After just a few more months of getting to know each other, we all agreed to a group trip to Antigua. We spontaneously blurted out the idea at the beginning of brunch at Café Soleil, and by the end of it, our flights were booked.

Antigua was the start of our story. There was something about Ali’s many (failed) attempts at catching fish with his bare hands, loudly singing Baila Mami on drives, throwing rocks around, and silliness that drew me to him. He was playful, kind, and looked damn good in that Caribbean sun.

That was six years ago, and through years of long distance, countless dates (where I continue to consistently be late), endless conversations, and so many travel adventures, we have maintained the goofiness, adventurousness, and kindness we displayed to each other from the very beginning.

My move to New York City was spontaneous, and it is one of my greatest joys to have found the rest of my life here.

*As a result of maturing, my eyes have been opened that Gandalf was in fact a hero and the Fellowship could not have made it without him. No further opinions will be heard at this time.
